I would play the DS one, but she likes to sit on the couch while I watch-and-guide her as well.

If she started to get Engrish thrown in there, it would turn her off, regardless of how good the game is. I already showed the game to her for about 20m prior to this post (this was awhile ago though), she commented on "how Japanese" it is, and that being a bad thing. I also have a SNES Classic, but because of the very eh translations and how normie my sister is, I know she'd like the updated translations a lot better. I'm honestly shocked how overblown some of you guys are making it out to be. SE was a much better company when it was SquareSoft. If they did there wouldn't be such a severe backlash in the beginning and people still have currency issue problems due to language and are unable to buy things in the shops a simple bug like this is not fixed. Basically this is a very shoddy port and SE doesn't seem to truly put their heart in to it. The DS features had nothing to do with the original game but they added those in and not even all of them. To me the "I can't change the color of the text boxes! Woe is me!" is an example of a stupid complaint. If you look at the forums, you need to filter out the stupid complaints with legit complaints. Bought it on Steam but also got it on the phone as well before the Steam release which is why I haven't played it that much. Overall, I thought the game was pretty good.

You can't change the color of text boxes, at least when I last played it, but that really isn't that big of a deal. You have a choice to go old school or the "hi-res" version which looks really blurry. Personally, with the little time I had with it, it didn't seem all that bad to be honest. That scene wasn't there in the original SNES game. Also, that video has nothing to do with original game.

Pretty sure they took out the Chrono Cross video because people would assume that Square Enix would be releasing Chrono Cross next. Its also missing the Arena from the DS version which you have forgotten. The Robo cutscene and the video that leads into Chrono Cross are from the PSX. Yes I am very sure I don't have a torrent copy as I buy my games. Of course the Steam Version doesn't match the DS version yet, but I think this version is the easiest, accessible and legal choice actually to play this game if you don't have a DS. With the updates and patches SE fixed the graphics, the HUD and interface, the font and smaller things. The only thing it misses from DS version are the Bestiry, the Robo Cutscene and smaller things like the positions of the health bar.
